The people selling this are trying to convince you that this is the only battery you can use for the rc boat, this is not true. As an experienced rc boat, airplane, and car/truck driver you can trust me on this one. These batteries have a connector called a "Tamiya connnector" and any other battery that has this kind of connector will work. Here is an example of one that will give you good run time and power: 7.2V Tenergy 3000mAh Flat NiMH High Power Battery Packs with Tamiya Connectors for RC Cars



Also concerning the charging of these batteries you do not have to wait 5 hours for it to charge if you buy a charger that charges at a higher "amp" rate. Here is an example of a charger that would work excellently and would charge in just 30 minutes:...Read more
