5.0 out of 5 stars It's like a brand new helicopter, November 2, 2011

I'm a happy owner of this aluminum frame and never had any issues. The user who wrote the previous review made 2 mistakes. First, the portion of the carbon fiber tail boom that's to be inserted into the frame has a flat side and the top of the hole on the frame has a slit. You are supposed to match the flat side with the slit and let your tail motor wires come out through that gap. Insert the tail this way and there will be no resistance, no pinched wires, no short circuits, a perfect fit. Second, there is a threaded hole on either side of the tail boom hole close to the main rotor shaft. Insert a screw in either hole to lock the tail boom in place securely. My tail boom stays in place even after hard crashes. These are all very obvious features on these components. Had the previous reviewer taken the time to examine these parts before jamming them together, he wouldn't end up with a messed up helicopter.

Upgrading to this aluminum frame turned my mSR into a whole new and...Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars looks good but with some problems, June 10, 2011

I bought this for the blade msr. I had read some reviews elsewhere that suggested not to buy this because the tail boom hole doesn't secure it well enough (they were right, it spins easily) and the tail booms wires touch the metal frame causing the circuit board tail boom ESC to short out (it did). I spent 40$ on a new circuit board. When I got the frame the board had not been used before. I was careful to handle it, leaving no oil from my fingertips that could short the board out. As soon as I plugged in the battery, the tail wires touching the frame shorted out the esc for the tail quickly. The board was ruined. This frame also has a jimmied support bar system for the canopy. It comes with two graphite rods that you have to CA glue to keep in place. I wish it was metal too. Overall, it looks nice, but it could cost you in the long run and you have to sacrifice some functionality for the canopy. I am going to forgo the metal frame but bling my msr out with all of the other metal...Read more

I bought this frame mainly because I broke the canopy studs on the org. plastic frame. As the first reviewer has said the tail boom does not fit snugly into the frame as it should. If you look at the end of the boom and inside the hole where the boom go's you can see how its supposed to go in. Its just not very snug and the MSR won't fly like that. As the 2nd reviewer stated there are small holes on either side you could screw in to secure the boom but this hole is even smaller then the srews that your likely to have. The frame came with a plastic collar that inserts into the frame with the boom but I don't think its of much use.

Just my two cents.
