Beware
My wife gave me this for Christmas, and it was fun to fly UNTIL I finally had a crash that required me to buy replacement parts.
I broke the cross and ordered one here on Amazon. The cross they sent me apparently had the polarity crossed in the wiring harness because when I installed it and plugged the battery in for the first flight after repair, two of the engines immediately CAUGHT FIRE as soon as I plugged the battery in. All of the connectors in the wiring harness are keyed so that you cant plug them in wrong. As many of you have stated, the customer support at this company is not good, so if you have an experience like mine, you might as well plan on just throwing the thing away.
It is a shame as it was fun to fly, and the idea of being able to replace any part is kind of neat. If there is poor quality control on the spare parts though, it is really a useless feature.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck if you still plan on buying...Read more

The cross has easily got to be the most brittle piece. No metal parts, but the cross joint that holds the arms breaks really easily (I have gone through two of them already). If you want this to last, no perilous journeys for the drone. Matter of fact, my last one broke when the thing dropped from roughly three feet in the air to concrete. It actually both broke the frame and created a fatal crash in the motherboard. Their instruments are extremely delicate and need a lot of reinforcement to keep working for more than an hour.
When glue and tape can't make it anymore...,

I broke the central cross in two sections very close to the middle junction. The stress put in that section makes very difficult for the glue to stick all the parts together. A new central cross solves the misery of seeing the instability of the Drone not only while flying but also on the ground.
Look up for AR Drone's website for the easy-to-follow steps to replace the central cross.
PROS: Works. Decent price (specially if you can avoid shipping charges)
CONS: Amazon guys... make sure you pack this unit safely. Mine was shipped with a heavy power supply I bought as well, and the plastic bag containing the cross broke. Luckily, no damage... but could happen.
