Summary: Toddler Loves It 2010-08-29
Comment: 2 year old boy loves this toy over all others. Really basic commands and not too fancy for a young toddler. Soft exterior shell. Works well on hard floors, ok on rugs and tight carpet.
Summary: Very Nice for a Young Child 2010-08-13
Comment: We bought this as a present for our nephew. He really liked it. It is really loud though but as another reviewer recommended a little tape over the speaker will take care of that. Plus, it is a fire engine and they aren't meant to be quiet anyway. It is durable too. This is a great first RC toy for any young child.
Summary: OK for the price, limited controls, very short range 2010-07-27
Comment: For $20 it's hard to complain. Real RC vehicles are at least 10x that much. Still, I wouldn't buy another one. Sadly, I only learned this after I already bought three of them for different kids. And all three (different models) worked the same and had the same limitations.

The biggest problem is the range - about 10'. It's also intermittent. Once in awhile, it will work from farther away. But it also fails from very close.

It is not powerful enough for most carpets. Works pretty well on hard floors. Even had trouble on asphalt driveway.

It's also loud and annoying. I ended up taking it apart and snipping the wire to the speaker.

All three kids lost interest pretty quickly. It's just not reliable enough for a kid's short attention span. They have too many toys that work every time.
Summary: Very Disappointing 2010-07-18
Comment: I bought this toy for my two year old grandson. Not only does it take a rocket scientist and a mechanic just to place the batteries but after a day, apparently it began to kick and sputter. Since I also included brand new name brand batteries, it is apparent this toy is just no good. I should send the thing back but it's not worth spending any more money on shipping. All I can say is beware on this product.
Summary: More fun for adults than for the kid 2010-06-23
Comment: My son loves firetrucks so we got this one for him to play with as he has several other automatic trucks. First the sound is really annoying, you'll get used to it but since I have some other automatics, this is most annoying one we have. second, It has a cute wheel that controls it but it only goes in a few directions. Lastly, It has withstood some knocking around and still works so far. 3 stars because our kid doesn't love it - he has a red toy race car that he likes better. (They could make the red on the truck brighter!)
