On first flight it took off rather easily and after adjusting the trim (as explained in the instructions) I was able to get it to "float" (key word here) around the room. The lack of pitch adjustment means that you can't really move it backwards or forwards... just up, down, right and left. The instructions mention that once you get better at flying you can add a little weight to the nose to increase the forward speed. I haven't tried this yet. This is a fun little gadget that does pretty much what I expected of it. As for durability I have knocked it into a few things at slow speed and it has held up so far. I would guess that if you drop it from ceiling height or slam it hard into a wall that it will break. I would also take care when plugging in the charger as it is...Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By As far as foam-bodied rc choppers go, this thing is fairly durable. It has survived mid-air attacks from a cat, as well as hard crash landings and collisions with wall fixtures, and it still flies. Once I flew it into the ceiling fan, and it lost one of the lower blades, and even with only 7 main blades instead of 8, the chopper STILL FLEW! Replacing the broken main blade was pretty easy, and the replacement blade kit is also inexpensive. The chopper has left/right turn control, and up/down control, which is all you should expect for the price and size. Add a small paperclip to the nose and it...Read more By matttail "-Photo freak" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews = Durability: I got this as a Christmas present today and I'm loving it. Came out of the box with enough of a charge to play with it right away, and while I'm old enough to handle waiting (25 yrs) it was still nice to not have to. I crashed right away the first several flights, then had to let it charge up, about 20 min for a full charge. After the third charging I had the controls down pretty well. I can make smooth landings on tables or onto someone's hand. I haven't tried putting a weight on the front yet, but I'm sure I will before long. It does move around well enough without the weight though. This is my first flying RC toy, and it seems to be holding up well so far. If you fly too close to the ceiling it sort of forms a suction and won't drop away will you let off the lift enough that it falls to the floor. But even when stuck on the ceiling, letting it down all 9 feet to the floor it's survived without a scratch. I've also knocked it into chairs and made sideways...Read more |
