Mode I
The control stick configuration with the rudder and elevator being controlled by the left stick while the right stick controls the throttle and ailerons.

Mode II
The control stick configuration with the ailerons and elevator being controlled by the right stick while the left stick controls the rudder and throttle.

This was the first time I've tried using a radio controlled device, and I'm glad I listened to other people who said this would make a good beginners unit. Even though it's designed for flying, as you can tell by the way the controls are marked, such as elevator, aileron, and rudder, I wanted to use mine to control a large robot I built. I had no problems understanding the directions, and within an hour I felt completely comfortable using the remote. I would certainly recommend this product to anyone that's new or experienced in operating a craft remotely.
