It is made out of pure styrofome and doesn't look as showy as it does on the box. At the same time it flies well. Do not crash it into a tree because a twig will spear it compelety through. The plane is durable to crashes but not to trees. This plane is perfect for beginners because it can withstand these crashes, doesn't go too fast or high, glides well, and if it breaks can easily be fixed with clear scotch tape. Also, when I first tried the plane it stalled if when it was on the lowest throttle. Taping only a single paper clip to the front will make it fly much faster and fix this problem. Very easy and takes two second. Another thing, the wings do not have rudders or move in any way. The way it turns is by making one proppeller use more power than the other. The plane will always veer more to one side than the other and the trim is very sensitive. Over all this is a great plane and I recommend you to get this if you are a starter. This review is from: Air Hogs Red Acro Jet (Toy) The first of several Air Hogs planes I purchased, this one tends to be
my favorite. I attempted the "cut off and re-attach front stabilizer wings" mod as seen on youtube... and messed it up... made gouges in the fuselage! I just put a piece of tape over the holes... and the little sucker fly's like bird. I recommend just cutting off the front wings completely with a pair of scissors. I also glued one of the cut off front wing tips on the tail to make a top tier vertical extra stabilizer. Not sure if that really did anything, but it looks cool, and my airplane fly's really, really, well. People complain about Air Hogs, but there has not been one yet that I can't fly... and this one cruises like a charm. Many many crashes later... its still in excellent shape. But I fly over grass. Even so, I've screamed into the barbed wire at full speed, and no problems. Highly recommended! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By = Durability: This review is from: Air Hogs Red Acro Jet (Toy) This Acro Jet is made by Silverlit (silverlit-flyingclub dot com), so I expected it to be really good. It's NOT! I have three and each has different flying characteristics, but all bad, severe porpoising (uncontrollable up-down jumping), death spiral, etc. etc. Tried lots of things to improve it (weight on nose to change center of gravity, cutting front wing canards to different lengths, etc.), nothing made them worth flying. Stay away from this one. Get the Jet Set instead; see my review of the orange one. |
