The local Toys-R-Us had this helicopter on sale for $20. I bought two of them for my 4 1/2 year old son - this model and the model with Amazon ASIN #B002VJKI00. I decided to buy two different models since they were selling for such a great price. With my son as young as he is I thought if one model was too difficult maybe the other one would be easier and if he broke one he'd have a back up and I could hang on to the broken one for parts.

I'm very glad I did that because the red helicopter (with the different body style) is much harder to control than this one. The tail of this model is slightly longer and its total weight is approximately 4 grams lighter at around 12 grams. The overall balance of this model while flying is much more stable and easier to keep from crashing. The extra tail length, even though it's barely longer, adds a bit of smoothness to it's maneuverability. Cheap RC helicopters are always fun to use, but seem to break way too easily. We've had this product at my workplace for about six months and it has held up wonderfully. This despite some horrific crashes caused by me and my co-workers. The flight controls aren't the greatest, but once you get used to them it flies well enough. If you want great flight control you probably need to buy a more expensive model. Charging time is brief and although the controller takes 6 AA batteries I've only changed them once in six months. Overall I am very satisfied with this product.

DO:
-pair this up with a USB Nerf rocket launcher and have battles

DON'T:
-fly it outside, even a small gust of wind will send it flying

The helicopter was lots of fun for the 20 minutes it lasted. The counter-weight on the blade flew off without even hitting anything. I ordered replacement rotor blades, but it just doesn't fly the same. I bought another mini helicoper for about $10 more (Swift Twister Gyro stabilized) that is a hundred times more maneuverable, more durable, and simply more fun.
