Product Description
22" Blazingly Fast Balaenoptera Musculus Racing RC Boat is the fastest RC Boat in our Electric Powered Speed RC Boat category. This beast is powered by PC twin propellers. Power comes from a included standard Sub C 7.2V rechargeable Ni-Cd pack as used in other Tamiya cars. With it's vector-push design, it can reach a speed of 25+mph! Fast turning radius. Plastic construction. It has an operating range up to 300 feet. If it goes any farther, you can't even see the boat. It has a running time of 20-30 minutes. It comes included with all of the necessary components such as rechargeable battery pack and AC adapter. However it requires eight (8) "AA" batteries for the remote. We give it both thumbs up! Please note that color may vary from the image shown above.

Summary: WOWZERS! 2010-04-29
Comment: The price and performance are amazing. It is fast, turns on a dime, easy to control.....highly recommended.
Summary: Great boat, just need a better battery 2010-04-15
Comment: This is a great boat. My boys and I run it around the swimming pool and it's very fast and maneuverable. They slam it into the sides of the pool regularly and it withstands the beating just fine, at least so far. The boat does not go in reverse (at least mine doesn't), despite having a reverse button on the controller, which is a little odd. It's still plenty of fun though, going forward.

My one big gripe is that the battery that comes with it is a 7.2v 1800mAh battery, which is underkill for the motors in the boat. The result is 5 hours of waiting for the batteries to charge for 20 minutes of playtime. That kind of charge to play ratio is a bit of a bummer. Do yourself a favor and buy a 4000+ mAh battery (or two) and a 'fast charger' if you buy the boat so that you can have some real fun with it.
Summary: Now it is exciting 2010-04-14
Comment: Just like everyone else I read the reviews on this boat and decided to buy. What I learned is that the battery and battery charger for this boat are HORRIBLE. I took the boat into my local hobby shop and they recommended a different newer battery and charger. NOW the boat is fast. It handles great and I am pondering buying a 2nd. I did have a make a VERY SLIGHT modification to make the new batteries fit. Now I get over 15 minutes per battery of fast. It takes 1 hour to charge the new batteries with the new charger. It makes a world of difference. It is now fun for adults also.
Summary: Great toy for the money. 2010-04-11
Comment: As the title states, for the money (mine was about $36'ish shipped from Xheli here on Amazon), this is a very fun little toy. It is definitely toy grade, not hobby grade; but as far as toy grade r/c's go, this one is one of the faster toys. If you're interested in getting started in r/c boats (or looking for something friends and kids drive while you're driving your more expensive r/c boat), this is a good intro to the hobby and you're not out a ton of money from the start as it comes ready to run with remote, battery pack and a charger. All you need to buy are AA batteries for your transmitter and you're ready to go. Check on youtube also to see videos of the boat to get an idea of the handling and speed; it's quick and will turn on a dime. I only wish that I could order another (in a different color) so that I could run two boats together; but there's no way to contact the seller in order to specify color as unfortunately they just send out random colors. Also, if you have standard six cell packs from other r/c's they will work in these with very minor modifications and for more juice, I've been told the electronics will hold up to a seven cell battery.

As for my ratings, fun value only got a four (would have been five if this was my first r/c though)
educational value only got a three as hobby grade r/c boats actually have rudders for steering,
durability has yet to be tested although it seems plenty tough and handles heavy chop better than I'd expected
overall it's five stars for a toy grade r/c as it is a good "toy", just don't expect hobby grade and you'll love it.
Summary: Fun 2010-04-05
Comment: This is a really fun boat. VERY fast! Don't use in a home swimming pool, best at a lake.

Battery life is not the greatest, but the boat is worth it!
