Product Review

Barely as tall as a single tire on the 1/10 scale Summit, the 1/16 Summit VXL will make you forget all about its super convenient and fun size while its massive suspension travel, screaming brushless horsepower, and 4-wheel drive traction tackle impossible terrain and turn no way into no problem. Traxxas engineers have managed to pack all the big Summit s go-anywhere versatility into a smaller machine that knows no boundaries. Waterproof? Check. Velineon Brushless power system? Of course! Traxxas tough durability? You bet. Traxxas engineers built this one to run hard and fast with its all-new extreme duty driveshafts, rugged ExoCage body, beefed up suspension damping, and scale Canyon AT tires. The 1/16 Summit s just-right size lets you enjoy hours of off-road fun anywhere, anytime!

This (1/16 summit) in my 6th car, nitro's & electric I have had & this is the best.
The stock "charger" is a joke, have never even used it, 6 hours to charge 1 battery NO thanks. The first thing too get is a smart charger, that is the basic thing anyone needs; charge time for me 20min on my 1200mAp batteries, 30-35min for my 1400mAp batteries @ 2amps.

Turn back (loosen) the slipper clutch, when you get the truck it will be fully locked down, when I got my truck I did not know this & ended up trashing one of the lower drive shafts in 8 days or about 5 hours of driving. Mine is set at 1 1/8th turn.
If your going to be running it at high speeds you need a heat sink (you may need CPU thermal paste too make it fit right, like "actic silver 5") & cutting out the front & back windows helps with ventilation (I have a summer top & winter top, you can get a 1/16 Summit body for about $35-45 on eBay)

This is a well made "little" truck, I can smoke my dads...Read more

I have this truck and it is awesome. It is fully waterproof so you can drive it in water. It is 4WD and it can still do back flips with the extra battery and series connector. This truck is very fast and a truck worth getting. Just because the truck is over $300 it doesn't mean you shouldn't get it. You will love it and want to play with it every day.

My son and I have the Traxxas Brushless E-Revo, Slash 4x4, Stampede VXL and find these trucks to be durable and easy to work on, repair.
While the 1/16 Summit design is a smaller scale E-Revo, we found the small parts somewhat difficult to work on. We had a number of ESCs fail and had to wait an inordinate amount of time for Traxxas to repair, return them. We prefer the 1/10 scale vehicles.
