- It is a solid piece of plastic, but 30-40Mph does make it come apart
- I keep ordering stuff from [...] on a weekly basis
- It has a "train/practice" mode which is 50% power, Mode #3. Ideal to use in your driveway.
- You do need 2 batteries and the dual connector, just get it.
- The 27Mhz radio is not good enough for a car of this speed. If you can afford the 70 extra, get the 2.4 Ghz radio instead.
Also if you're a cool dad, get 2.
Seriously, this is an RC car of a "caliber" - totally wow effect in the neighborhood! Very good value for money!
this little truck can take a beating, you decide how aggressive it should be, by running single batteries or running dual batteries in parallel for longer run times or in serial for speed.
my nephew prefers parallel because of the longer run times, we use the traxxas batteries, and get about 30-40 minutes of runtime in the backyard, and in parallel mode it is not as aggressive, and easier to control, he can actually do faster laps than i can on my short backyard racing track, much to his enjoyment.
in speed runs and serial connection and a little gearing we hit 59 mph very impressive
the battery (nimh) that comes with the truck is fine, but the charger is an overnight charger, so the fun doesn't last too long unless you spend a little on more batteries and a better charger, i would suggest investing in lipo batteries as these can be charged faster(under an hour of charging), they are lighter, and have longer runtimes, but they do require a charger that is made for lipo
all in all i find my self using this little truck more than its big brother, mostly because it fares better in my small backyard track, and is cheaper in parts
